ZEDEX The School Networking Solution!

Thank you for considering Zedex!

Currently Zedex is freeware, my little contribution to education.

Letters telling how well it is working and offering suggestions as to how it could be improved would be greatly appreciated.  Many thanks to the users who have made valuable suggestions! Please email me at: barry@zedex.net

When prompted, choose to save Zedex to your computer: Zedex032004.zip

Unzip and place where you want to keep it. Make shortcuts to the program, leaving one shortcut on the desktop, and place another in the Startup folder. Remember that the server (the one computer named zedex)  must be set up first, for Zedex to run.

This program, running on Windows 95, 98, Me, 2000 and NT requires Visual Basic 6 run time dll's. Most systems already have it. If Zedex does not work, then download and install the following Microsoft program: vbrun60sp5.exe  It can also be downloaded from Microsoft directly.

Zedex 16bit version for Windows 3.1, Windows for Workgroups:

Download: zx16.zip

Unzip and place in the Startup directory, so that it runs on boot up.

Vbrun300.dll must be loaded into the windows\system directory for this program to work.  Download vbrun300.dll, if you need it.

To run the 16bit version, you will also need "Filerun", which is run on the server.

Download and install on the server. Instructions on this site will tell you where and how to use it. Download: filerun.zip This program also requires vbrun300.dll, which is probably already on your system.

You should protected your desktop with Policy Editor or some similar protection software whereby access to Explorer and Folders on the desktop is restricted. To find out how, go to Policy Editor .

Protection for Windows 3.1:

If your looking for a small program to protect your Win 3.1 Program Groups, try Secure Group.
Secure Group for Windows 3.1    With this program you can set up a program group of applications to which only teachers have access, or to which administrators have access. You can put File Manager in one of these protected groups and run setups from File Manager without having to remove protection.   Put your uninstall icons in one of these protected groups!
